Avira launches free security tools including free VPN

Leading antivirus and VPN provider Avira has launched Avira Free Security, comprehensive, industrial-grade cyber security free for desktop and mobile.

Simplifying security software for users, the one-click Smart Scan feature detects and resolves infamous security, privacy and performance issues.

Along with protection from scams, identity theft, and financial loss, Avira Free Security even includes a free VPN. Meanwhile the protection engine has been tested to block 100% of threats (based on consumer tests by the independent AV Comparatives), protecting against an average 8.4 million daily malware attacks and 8.1 million phishing scams.

At a time when you need peak productivity, Avira Free Security speeds up and cleans PCs and mobiles for zero cost.

“In a time when much of the world is migrating their livelihood online, Avira Free Security provides industrial-grade cyber security with one easy click on your personal device. We created a product that’s simple and intuitive, so no one needs to miss out on protecting their digital lives,” said Matthias Ollig, Chief Technology Officer of Avira. “We are living in an era where people are constantly exposed to malicious online activity, with an average 8.4 million daily malware attacks and 8.1 million phishing scams. With our new Free Security products, everyone around the world – including the less tech-savvy consumer – can make sure they are fully protected.”

Available for Windows, Android, and iOS (macOS version set for release in Summer 2020), Avira Free Security is designed to be easy to use, with a simple, clear dashboard of features. The program scans for security and privacy threats and cleans up the computer for improved speed and performance. Based on consumer tests by AV Comparatives, an independent organization which offers systematic testing to check whether security software lives up to its promises, Avira’s detection engine blocks 100% of all digital threat.

With the mobile versions, users enjoy a simple interface on-the-go, all managed by the same Smart Scan feature available in the desktop version. Additionally, functionality such as device optimization, VPN, anti-theft, network scanner and privacy managers are available for mobile users.

“Protecting yourself online should not be a luxury but rather a right that everyone can take into their own hands,” said Ollig. “With Avira Free Security, people are now better equipped to protect their digital lives and can enjoy the beauty of technology without worry.”
